CCTV Specialty Equipment Surveillance
This is another example of using a cctv special application camera that no one expects. A motion sensor spy cam can be the perfect addition to your existing alarm, security and surveillance cctv system. Just about “every nanny cam” system uses a motion sensor to detect a break in.
While this is more of a record keeping system than immediate security, the video record taken within the internal DVR of the surveillance device will be sufficient to ensure a viable and legal record.
There are 2 types of motion sensor spy cams, one is functioning and the other is not.
This means whether the spy cam is put inside a dummy housing or a real alarm motion sensor.
I recommend getting the fully functioning type. This is because an alarm system uses 12 volt power. As it happens spy cams use 12 volt as well. So instead of running a coax cable and a separate power wire you only have to run the coax to your recording device.
The recording device will have some inputs on the back that you need to hook up. You’ll see some markings that read N/O or N/C.
This stands for normally open contact and normally closed contact
Put your alarm wire in the N/O spot. A motion sensor is a normally open device. ( Don’t worry about the tech stuff). Now when the motion sensor is tripped the spy cam will start the recorder.
The best place to install the motion detector spy cam is in the corner of the room. You can view the entire room from this position, and peoples eyes are more likely to miss the hidden cctv dvr in its cammoflaged housing if it is near the corner of a room as apposed to the center wall.
